Buff has been competitively swimming since he was 10 years old. He started his swimming career at Pine Bush Aquatic Club located in Pine Bush, New York. Buff progressed to the Pine Bush High School Boys Varsity Swim team as a seventh grader earning 6 varsity letters and setting numerous team records while contributing to the program’s five Sectional titles. Later in his high school career he transitioned to a year-round swimmer with Marist Swim Club in Poughkeepsi, NY. Buff continued his swimming career at Gettysburg College where he held the 200 butterfly record, and helped lead the Men’s squad to four straight conference championships.
Buff graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gettysburg College in 1993 with a dual degree in Economics and Political Science. Upon graduation, Buff returned to New York to coach Viking Aquatic Club and Pine Bush Aquatics where he started the latter club’s U.S. Swimming program. From 1993 to 1995 Buff was Head Coach of both the Boys and Girls Pine Bush High School Swim teams. After helping re-establish Pine Bush Swimming to its status as one of the top tier programs in New York State, Buff moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue his graduate studies. Upon his relocation, Buff served as the Head Boy’s Coach for Upper Dublin Aquatic Club from 1995 to 1996.
Buff worked for Ernst & Young LLP from 1997 to 2000 as a tax consultant, and has been employed by Lockheed Martin Corporation in their Tax Department since 2000. He completed his graduate studies in 2002 earning both an MBA and a Masters in Taxation from Drexel University. In addition to his professional pursuits, Buff is an active volunteer firefighter with the Fort Washington Fire Company.
Buff is grateful for the opportunity to get back to coaching – calling it the most rewarding endeavor he’s ever had the privilege to partake. He is looking forward to working with the UDAC swimmers to help them realize their potential, build character, and forge a sense of camaraderie with their teammates and coaches.
Buff’s wife Michelle is a current UDAC coach, and their two sons - Kian and Aidan - are students in the Upper Dublin School District as well as athletes in UDAC’s Swimming and Diving program.
